I'm not sure what's worse. Being a kid or being a ferret.
Or an old person.
... I'm not affected. How often do floods affect our ages, anyway?
[Private to Vanessa and Narvin, separately. Narvin's comes much later.]
I have your knives.

But she does put her armor on, throwing her old cloak over it, before she slips more-or-less invisibly down the hall to Zuko's room. It feels good to move unseen, to have that safety between herself and the world again.
It also feels good to kick Zuko's door instead of knocking on it. Her boots are much more practical than Hope's shoes.]

At the kick, he gets up to answer the door, sort of annoyed already, but stares for a moment at his inmate, "What are you wearing" occurs to him, but what actually comes out is:]
Did you kick the door?

Did your country start a war to crush the rest of your world? [Oh the sarcasm.]
Let me in or give me what's mine.

[He steps away from the door to get the knives, which are sitting on a table. His room is the apartment he and Iroh shared in Ba Sing Se while they were on the run from the Fire Nation, and is actually pretty simple for someone who's apparently a prince/Fire Lord depending on who you talk to on the ship.
He picks them up and holds them out towards Vanessa, face relatively expressionless.]

And she's mostly controlling herself, too, but there's a little flicker in her eyes that she can't quite keep back at the sight of them. Taking them from him, she weighs them in her hands, testing the balance, the shape, the size. Everything's right, except for the edges. It's a big except, but she can work with it for now.
The daggers go into their sheathes and she produces the knives Narvin gave her (don't ask from where). They're a lot less substantial - her own are made for real fighting, to be able to parry swords and get past armor - but they are sharp. Unlike Zuko, she doesn't move to hand them over, just keeps them in hand.]
I suppose you expect me to be grateful for this.

His mouth quirks slightly into a not quite amused smirk at the comment.] That doesn't really seem like it'd be your style.

[Somewhere between anger and snark, leaning mostly towards snark.]

[He was tempted to ask about what she'd heard about the war, and what details she'd been given about it, and after a pause, he asked.] Who told you about the war?

[Which is, of course, an asshole way of saying she's not going to reveal her source in case he has more to say later.]

I'm not affected either. Floods tend to skip me. Of course, now that I just said that, the next one is going to hit me double hard.
